Rail Network Disruption Due to Flooding – Update #6

Dear Valued Customer,

Further to our last update, we have been advised that the main East-West rail line is scheduled to reopen this evening at 5:00pm. Based on this, we currently expect the first arrivals into Perth on Thursday.

Significant backlog and congestion are expected as services resume.

In addition, severe flooding across central western NSW continues to affect freight ex Brisbane and ex Sydney to Perth. We are working closely with our rail providers to divert freight to and from Brisbane and Sydney via the open rail line through Melbourne. We continue to maintain a close watch to understand and report the full extent of these disruptions and their impact on transit times.

Please be assured our operations are committed to working through the backlog as quickly and as safely as possible, including working across the weekend to receive and unload freight as it becomes available.

Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding as we work through these challenges. We will continue to provide updates as new information is confirmed.

If you have any questions or need to discuss impacts to your freight, please reach out to your Sadleirs Logistics representative or Customer Service team:

Kind regards,
The Sadleirs Logistics Team

Rail Network Disruption Due to Flooding – Update #5

Further to our previous updates, we advise that while the East-West rail line briefly reopened, it has since been closed again due to ongoing flooding in the region. At this stage, no confirmed reopening timeframe has been provided by the rail network operator.

As a result, delays to rail services in and out of Perth will continue until the line can safely resume operations.

We understand the impact this has on your business and apologise for the ongoing disruption.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as more information becomes available.

If you have any questions or need to discuss impacts to your freight, please reach out to your Sadleirs Logistics representative or Customer Service team:

We thank you for your continued patience and support.

Kind regards,
The Sadleirs Logistics Team

Service Update: Perth Delays Following Geelong Refinery Fire

We regret to advise that recent services into Perth have been significantly impacted due to a large oil refinery fire near Geelong, which resulted in the closure of the East–West rail corridor.

While we can confirm the affected section of track has now reopened to rail traffic, the extent of the disruption has led to the cancellation of today’s services ex Melbourne to Perth.

As a result, the arrangements we had in place to manage and mitigate next week’s scheduled track possession have been affected.

Note that this will create a knock on impact across the network, and we now advise that delays into Perth are expected.

Our teams are working with our rail provider to recover as quickly as possible.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as more information becomes available.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this disruption may cause and appreciate your understanding during this unexpected event.

Should you require shipment specific information or have any concerns, please contact your local Sadleirs Logistics representative or Customer Service team:

Kind regards,
The Sadleirs Logistics Team
